Your Scentsy warmers bring with them a world of freshness, and mood enhancing scents that can help to set the ambience in your home, and even help to invoke sweet memories from your past.
Offered in a number of great designs, your Scentsy warmers can add a bit of personality into any room in your home or in your office, while enhancing your day-to-day experience with scents that are as unique as you are.
Gone are the days of relying on candles or incense to infuse your home with a smell that can help to enhance the ambience of your home. Today Scentsy offers a much safer option, without the risk of fire and soot. Made from food-grade paraffin wax, you’ll appreciate that Scentsy products are free from toxins often found in other types of scent products.
While it’s one of the best aspects of the warmers and wax cubes, there is more to Scentsy than simply plugging your warmer in, and allowing the low-watt bulb to slowly release the scent into the air as it gradually melts the wax.
We’ve gathered a list of our favorite top Scentsy tips and tricks, to help ensure your experience is always a positive one.
Rotating your favorite scents
Did you know that our noses can adapt to certain scents that they are exposed to quite often? This phenomenon is called “anosmia” but is also colloquially referred as becoming “nose-blind.”
What this means is that in just a few days your nose could make it harder to get the full appreciation of your favorite Scentsy scent! A handy tip is to simply rotate out some of your favorites every so often, so that you can always appreciate just how wonderful your surroundings smell.
Keeping several of your favorite scents on hand is just a great idea anyway. You never know when your mood will shift from wanting something that reminds you of a moonlight stroll in the forest to something energizing and fruit-infused.
Removing the wax from your warmer
Self-contained, with the wax in its own neat dish, you won’t need to worry about some of the mess that is otherwise associated with candles and other types of air scent infusers. Keeping your Scentsy warmer clean, and cleaning up after accidental spills as quickly as is possible, can help to ensure your experience is always one that is positive.
One of the concerns faced with those new to wax warmers is wondering what the best way to remove wax from a warmer might be once the fragrance has finally dissipated from the wax. Perhaps you simply want to rotate to a new scent today?
The good news is that it’s relatively easy, and doesn’t need to be a messy process at all.
- Turn off your Scentsy warmer, to allow the wax to cool and firm up at room temperature
- Remove the wax warmer bowl
- Place the wax-filled warmer bowl into your freezer, for up to 20 minutes. This will cause the wax to firm up as it begins to freeze
- Remove the bowl from your freezer and gently insert the tip of a spoon at the edge of the wax. If the wax has been allowed to harden completely then it’ll pop out without much effort and leave behind no residue
If the wax doesn’t come out easily, simply return it to the freezer for an additional few minutes. If the wax no longer has any scent, then simply throw it into the trash. If, however, there is still some great scent remaining and you’re just looking to change out the smell in your home, place the wax disk into a freezer bag and save it for later.
Some folks recommend using a butter knife to remove the wax, but we prefer to use a spoon. Even a butter knife can prove itself to be a safety concern, and may also inadvertently damage your wax warmer.
Cleaning up spills
For safety reasons, it’s recommended that you don’t try to work with or move your wax warmer until the wax has firmed up and cooled to room temperature. However sometimes spills will happen. When they do, there’s no need to panic. It’s fairly straight forward to remove Scentsy wax from carpets, clothing, and even upholstered furniture.
- If you’re removing wax from a piece of clothing, simply place it into the freezer to allow the wax to harden completely
- Remove the garment and gently chip off the ice using a spoon or even your fingernail
- Place a brown paper bag or paper towel over the wax spill and get your clothing iron or hair dryer
- Using the lowest setting of your iron or hair dryer, run it over the covered wax spill and press lightly. The wax will stick to the paper or paper towel, and lift up
The same steps can be used for carpet or furniture spills. Simply use ice or an ice pack to cool the wax so that it can be chipped off carefully before you reach for the iron or hair dryer.
Don’t overdo it on the wax
If the smell of one or two wax cubes is that awesome, surely three or four cubes must be better, right? The truth is that each wax cube has been designed to provide you with up to to 20 hours of fragrance. It won’t extend the amount of time that you are able to smell your fragrance of course, but it might overflow your wax warmer bowl and potentially lead to a very messy situation.
It’s also important to remember that the strongest scent will come from the warmest part of the bowl, and if there is too much wax it’ll prove harder for the scent to be released properly.
So considering sticking to just one cube, and enjoy.
Menthol scented gels and lotions can help you to breathe better when you are feeling under the weather or have a stuffy nose. Don’t head to that little tub of your favorite chest rub, however. Putting this goop into your warmer isn’t safe, as it poses a potential fire risk. Rather opt for the Just Breathe Bar, to get a bit of relief.
